    Awareness Workshop Held as Part of the Engaging the Local Community in the Restoration of Tawergha Wetland Project (PROZHUM)|.

    As part of the Engaging the Local Community in the Restoration of Tawergha Wetland project (PROZHUM), implemented by the Libyan Society for Birds in cooperation with the Tawergha Municipal Branch Council, an awareness workshop was held on Saturday, 27 June 2026, at the Entrepreneurship and Business Incubators Office Hall in Tawergha.

    The workshop was organised within the project’s awareness programme, which aims to enhance environmental knowledge and raise public awareness of the importance of wetlands, their conservation, and their sustainable use.

    The workshop brought together employees from various sectors, as well as members of the local Scout group. The programme began with an introduction to the importance of wetlands and their ecological and economic roles in supporting biodiversity and contributing to sustainable development.

    The programme featured two awareness lectures. The first, delivered by Aisha Saif Al-Nasr, addressed the ecological role of wetlands and their importance in maintaining ecosystems and providing natural habitats for a wide range of living organisms. The second lecture, delivered by Yasmin Al-Ahmar, focused on the concept of sustainable water use and the importance of sound water resource management to ensure the availability and sustainability of these resources for future generations.

    The workshop witnessed positive engagement from the participants, who demonstrated a clear interest in environmental issues and the importance of protecting wetlands as ecosystems of significant ecological and economic value.

    At the conclusion of the programme, the Libyan Society for Birds expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. The Society also acknowledged the support of the Tawergha Municipal Branch Council, the efforts of the Entrepreneurship and Business Incubators Office, and the active participation of all attendees, whose contributions helped make the awareness activity a success and promote greater environmental awareness in the region.
