Birdwatching Sites in Libya

Libya is characterized by a diversity of wetlands, including coastal lakes, salt flats, natural springs, sandy and rocky beaches and islands, wadis and their outlets into the sea, dams, and wastewater treatment facilities. These sites serve as rich habitats supporting a wide variety of resident and migratory waterbirds, making them important locations for bird monitoring and study. They provide suitable environments for feeding, nesting, and resting throughout the year. This diversity reflects the country’s ecological importance and its role as a critical stopover along global migration routes, enhancing the understanding of bird dynamics and contributing to their conservation efforts.
