The World Wetlands Day 2020 Celebration.

In collaboration with the Tajoura branch of the General Environment Authority and the Libyan Society for Birds, a celebration was held on Thursday, 6 February 2020 at the Tajoura Cultural Center to mark World Wetlands Day. This event is part of the annual activities commemorating this day, observed on 2 February each year, and the theme for 2020 was: “Wetlands and Biodiversity.”

The program included speeches by the Head of the Authority’s Tajoura Branch, the President of the Libyan Society for Birds, the Head of the Marine Biology Department at the Authority, and the Head of the Media Department at the Tajoura Branch. Following the speeches, a lecture was presented on migratory birds and their ecological importance. The second part of the event involved a field visit to the Tajoura Port, where participants observed birds and identified the species present.

The Libyan Society for Birds extends its sincere thanks to all who contributed to the success of this event, including Authority staff and Society members. Special appreciation is also given to the Tajoura Cultural Center and the Mediterranean Waterbirds Network for their support and contributions.
