Training of Young Members of Bessida Society on Bird Monitoring at Farwa Island.

Because children are the spark of hope for a more environmentally aware future, the Libyan Society for Birds, in collaboration with the Bessida Society and the Farwa Protected Area Monitoring Center, contributed on Saturday, 9 January 2021, to training the next generation of Bessida members in using telescopes and bird-watching techniques.

The activity included three educational lectures on:

    • Wetlands and their importance,
    • Birds and methods of identification,
    • How to conduct field counts.

The event also featured a field trip to Farwa Island to observe birds directly in their natural habitat.

The lectures were delivered by Dr. Khaled Etayeb, President of the Libyan Society for Birds.
