On 23 January 2018, the Libya Winter Waterbird Census continued, covering several wetland sites in Tripoli. The survey included the Al Haḑabah Sewage Treatment Plant and the Qergarish coastline, where a good diversity of bird species and numbers was recorded.

This activity is part of Libya’s participation in the International Waterbird Census (IWC), which aims to monitor the status of waterbirds and protect their natural habitats in the country.
