winter Waterbird Census (IWC) in Libya – 2019.
As part of its activities in monitoring and documenting waterbirds and their habitats, the Libyan Society for Birds launched the winter Waterbird Census in Libya during January 2019, in cooperation with the General Authority for Environment and its regional branches, with the participation of several local environmental associations.
The census covered a number of wetlands and coastal areas across Libya, aiming to record the species and numbers of waterbirds wintering in the country, in addition to monitoring the status of the natural habitats upon which these birds depend.
The Society extends its appreciation to all participating teams for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the success of this national program, which forms part of the International Waterbird Census (IWC).
